Indianapolis Fire Department Newborn Photographer: Jones – Coffee Creek Studio
Baby boy Jones was wide awake when we started his session! His little personality really shined through with his funny little facial expressions. He was so adorable even wide awake. He had me worried for a bit, thinking he would never go to sleep for us. But luckily he eventually did and we were able to get some posed sleepy photos! We just did it his way…and put clothes on him for a bit haha. His daddy is a firefighter with the Indianapolis Fire Department and I loved incorporating a photo of him in his Daddy’s helmet! My husband is also a firefighter, so creating fire-related photos have an extra special place in my heart! Rather than just posing with his Daddy’s helmet, I wanted his Daddy to be holding it because I know that will mean so much more to Jones someday. Yes…I try to think about what these tiny babies will cherish someday too. It may seem silly to think about that when they’re so young, but someday these will be the photos they look back on too and show their children and grandchildren and I want them to be as perfect and have as much meaning as possible. I try not to just take photos but to capture memories as cliché as that sounds.
While we are talking about using fire gear in photos, this is a great time to mention that if you’re a photographer thinking about using fire gear for a photo, you always need to be extra careful with what comes into contact with the baby. Fire gear is loaded with carcinogens and any other nastiness that it comes in contact with and we have to protect these tiny babies from that. I always ask parents to wash the gear…and then wash it again. Then I’m careful to avoid the baby touching it. I just wanted to mention this because it is one of those things I never thought about until my husband mentioned it to me. I’m a nurse and didn’t even think about it! So, I wanted to pass that along!
Thanks for coming to visit me Jones and family!
